“I aspire to work in Computer Science, finding ways to help the future youth. I believe that great potential is wasted everyday when people are not taught properly and I want to help provide people with opportunities similar to my own.”

Meet Luna…

Luna is from Gaza, Palestine. Luna worked with our partner organisation, AMIDEAST who helped with her applications for universities abroad.

Luna won the Kennedy Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) scholarship to be a foreign exchange student in Ohio completing her Junior year in High School. This experience really helped Luna adjust to the culture of American studentship and helped her to understand the American life, culture, and processes involved with applications for university.

Luna studies Political Science and Economics at Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota. Settling into university was easier because of Luna’s experience in Ohio, however Luna comments on how different college life is to High School. Given the small size of the university there is limited opportunity for extracurricular activity however Luna has thrown herself into organisations, hoping to be part of the Model United Nations from next year.

Following graduation, Luna is interested in returning to Gaza and working for an organisation that focuses on Palestinian rights. She’s also looking forward to becoming an activist for human rights and specially women.
