Meet Abdallah…
Abdallah was born in 2001 in Gaza, Palestine and learned to take responsibility for himself and for others right from his earliest years. As a student, Abdallah flourished and became fluent in English – in part due to his growing interest in Western culture through television.
Accepted into Whitworth University, Abdallah’s subject is Computer science (major) with Network systems (minor). As a young person, computers have always been his hobby and he has grown up trying to balance this passion with his drive for academics. Abdallah chose Whitworth University due to the phenomenal help they provide to international students. A big part of this for Abdallah is the help Whitworth will provide him in preparing him for the job market whilst he is still able to enjoy the full life of a university student. More than anything though, Abdallah says that the environment of the university and the relationship and support between staff and student was most appealing.
Abdallah is deeply motivated to learn new things and broaden his horizons and in his free time he likes to write, listen to music or play video games with friends. He also enjoys jogging and exploring new places and parts of the city. In 5 or 10 years, Abdallah can see himself aspiring to work in a high position in a company related to Computer science, but he’d also love to find ways of helping the future youth. He believes that great potential is wasted everyday when people are not taught properly and he wants to help provide people with opportunities similar to his own.
“I aspire to help the future youth have opportunities like I did, there is so much wasted potential due to people not being taught properly.”
“Growing up in a region affected by conflict and limited healthcare resources, I saw how vulnerable populations face significant barriers to accessing quality care. This experience has shaped my passion for healthcare and my desire to make a difference that serves my community.”
