Ahmad

University of Edinburgh, 2025-2026

Ahmad is a Palestinian physicist from South Hebron. He completed his undergraduate degree in Physics and Mathematics at Al-Quds University, ranking first in his college. During his studies, he spent a semester as a visiting student at the Middle East Technical University, where he worked on binary black hole mergers and their gravitational wave signatures. He co-authored two papers in quantum physics. After graduation, he joined the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) to study high-energy physics.

He is currently a Bseisu Scholar pursuing an MSc in Theoretical Physics at the University of Edinburgh, where he focuses on High Energy Physics. His fascination with the field stems from its simplicity - the realisation that the entire physical universe, from the dynamics of galaxies to the behaviour of subatomic particles, can be described by just two fundamental frameworks: General Relativity and the Standard Model. He chose the University of Edinburgh for its remarkable scientific legacy and for the Higgs Centre for Theoretical Physics, one of the world’s leading institutions in the field.

After completing his studies, he aspires to continue his journey of discovery as a researcher and to build a strong research environment in theoretical physics in Palestine. Although he has always been surrounded by curious and talented peers, opportunities in the field have been limited. His goal is to bring back the knowledge and experience he gains abroad and help establish local research groups capable of making original contributions to scientific advancement.

“I have always wanted to understand the universe, and this clear dream has guided my academic path.”
