Dr Mohammed Altalla is a fully qualified medical doctor and graduate of Al-Quds University (Al-Azhar branch, Gaza), with extensive clinical, academic and leadership experience across emergency medicine, primary care and medical education. Over the past two years, he has served as a Teaching Assistant at Al-Azhar University and worked as a General and Emergency Doctor with International Medical Corps field hospitals, where he provided acute care, stabilised critically ill patients and supported surgical teams.
Mohammed was born in Al Zawaida, Gaza, and grew up in Al-Maghazi Refugee Camp. He is currently based in the UK, where he is pursuing a Master’s in Cancer Research at Brunel University through the HESPAL Scholarship Programme. He is highly motivated to advance his clinical and academic expertise, contribute meaningfully to the UK healthcare system and work within multidisciplinary teams delivering patient-centred care.
Mohammed’s practical experience deepened his interest in oncology and inspired him to contribute to advancing cancer care through scientific research and education, leading him to his Master’s course. After completing his MSc, he plans to pursue a surgical training programme in the UK. His goal is to combine his clinical background with advanced research skills to contribute to evidence-based surgical practice, particularly in oncology.
“I chose Brunel University of London for my MSc in Cancer Research because of its strong reputation in biomedical sciences, its focus on practical laboratory skills and the opportunity to learn from experienced researchers actively involved in cutting-edge cancer studies.”
