Rawan
Imperial College London, 2025-2026
Born and raised in South Lebanon, Rawan Hammoud completed her Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences at the American University of Beirut (AUB) as a USAID scholar. Experiencing COVID-19, Lebanese economic crisis, and the most recent war deepened her interest in public health and highlighted the urgent need for stronger, more resilient health systems in Lebanon.
She is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health at Imperial College London, a leading global institution in STEM and health sciences. The program provides the academic foundation and international perspective she is seeking as she focuses on research, global health, and evidence-based practice.
Rawan has been involved with several youth and community organisations, including UNDP’s Youth Leadership Program, Anera, the Lebanese Red Cross, INJAZ, and AIESEC Lebanon. These experiences strengthened her commitment and shaped her understanding of community needs, youth engagement, and social impact.
After her studies, Rawan hopes to work with international organisations to gain field and research experience before pursuing a PhD. Her long-term goal is to contribute to strengthening health systems in Lebanon and improving access to reliable, equitable healthcare.
“I wanted to understand how health systems are built, protected, and strengthened, especially in crisis settings like Lebanon. Studying public health allows me to gain the skills needed to support stronger, more resilient, and more equitable healthcare for communities facing instability.”
