Born in Russia and raised in Hebron, Palestine, Samir is a passionate innovator who bridges technology, education and social impact. He is currently pursuing an MSc in Data Science for Business at the University of Bristol as a recipient of the HESPAL Scholarship. He chose this programme out of a long-standing interest in how data can inform smarter decision-making and drive real-world impact. For him, combining business and data goes beyond numbers - it’s about understanding people, trends and opportunities.

Samir graduated with High Distinction in Information Technology from Palestine Polytechnic University, where he was recognised as one of the top students in his cohort. Over the years, he has represented Palestine at international programmes and forums, including the MEPI Student Leaders Program in Washington D.C. and the Union for the Mediterranean Med Youth Lab in Fez, Morocco, where he championed youth mobility, innovation and sustainability.

A dedicated technologist, Samir has participated in global hackathons such as the NYU Abu Dhabi Quantum Computing Hackathon and the Jerusalem Hackathon (JHack), developing creative solutions that merge data science with real-world challenges. with past work experience with Wavelo (Tucows Inc.), contributing to machine learning and automation projects that improve efficiency and decision-making.

Guided by his commitment to education and progress, Samir aims to establish an AI innovation hub in Palestine to equip students with modern skills and opportunities. His journey reflects a deep belief that technology can be a force for empowerment, connection and positive change.

“For me, this field is also personal. I want to use what I learn to give back to the Palestinian community, helping local businesses and institutions make better, data-driven choices that support growth and resilience.”
