Meet Sarah…

Sarah is Syrian, born in Ireland and was raised in Dundee, Scotland for the first 11 years of her life. Her family then moved to London where she lived for the next seven years of her life. She now lives in Manchester.

Sarah is studying Medicine at the University of Manchester. She endeavoured to pursue a fulfilling career and medicine was exactly that - helping individuals in their most vulnerable state. She is grateful every day for the privilege she has as a student to be able to speak to patients on the wards about their most personal troubles and to hopefully one day treat those problems herself as a doctor.

Outside of University Sarah is involved in lots of teaching. She is part of an organisation known as Medology where they aim to widen participation into Medicine and Dentistry. As a member of Medology she mainly teaches students how to succeed in their medical interviews and hosts in-person teaching events in schools across the country.

Sarah believes that there is an immense disparity in the number of academic opportunities available to students from underserved backgrounds.

“Growing up in a region affected by conflict and limited healthcare resources, I saw how vulnerable populations face significant barriers to accessing quality care. This experience has shaped my passion for healthcare and my desire to make a difference that serves my community.”
